KCI Passenger Traffic Up 5.1 Percent in January
KANSAS CITY, MO., March 5, 2007 – Kansas City International Airport (KCI) recorded 767,784 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in January, which represents an increase of 5.1 percent from January 2006. Passenger boardings for January at KCI were up 5.5 percent, with a total of 391,160 during January.
“Following tremendous growth last year, 2007 is off to an excellent start,” said Director of Aviation Mark VanLoh. "With the substantial route enhancements that have already been announced by our tenant air carriers, including new service from ExpressJet Airlines and increased service from AirTran Airways, American Airlines and Midwest Airlines, Kansas City residents and visitors alike will benefit from more seats and more routes than at any point during the last five years. We look forward to the inauguration of new nonstop service to eight new destinations in the next several months, including Raleigh/Durham, Austin, Tucson, LA/Ontario, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Columbus and Louisville.”
The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for January was 230. Service was offered to 58 nonstop markets and more than 100 direct markets (one stop, same plane). There was an average of 22,078 domestic seats available in the market each day. In addition, there were 1,406 international seats available in the market on a weekly basis.
